I’ve
always loved stories with alpha male characters, the “badass” men who rule the
world. For Too Hot To Handle I knew I wanted to have a man who had power,
money, and enough charisma to fill a dump truck. A man who would go to the ends
of the earth for the people he loved. But Giovanni is a playboy, a love em’ and
leave ‘em man, for one reason only; he can never fall in love with a woman
because that would make her a target for revenge. A prophecy that comes true in
the book. For the heroine I needed a strong woman who wasn’t afraid to take him
on. A woman who would be his complete opposite and equal, a woman he could
never have. A U.S. Attorney who’s sworn to put him in jail. I loved the
chemistry of these two characters from the very first page. They literally
wrote their own story. I hope you pick up a copy and read the stormy, steamy,
love story of Giovanni and Violette.
After witnessing her father gunned down
on the capitol building on her sixteenth birthday, Violette Delacroix swore she’d put all the mobsters behind bars.
Now, a US Attorney, she’s put away more mobsters than anyone in the service.
Out celebrating with her friends at a trendy Miami nightclub, Violette stumbles
in her stilettos and her Cosmopolitan lands in the lap of Giovanni Sorrentino the infamous head of the Sorrento family. Giovanni is nothing like Violette expected,
he’s warm, sexy and when there is an attack on the nightclub Giovanni saves her
life. In the heat of the excitement, Violette leaves her purse behind with her
driver’s license and her identification. Forced to stay with Giovanni for
protection he takes her to his safe house mansion on the beach. The sexual tension
between them is about to explode but they both know to pursue this course of
action is a deadly game. Violette can’t believe how normal Giovanni seems. He’s
a loving brother, uncle, and son. Violette meets his entire family but the
temptation to be together is just too much and one night they give in to their
desire. While Giovanni is off handling a threat, his enemies kidnap Violette.
He comes after her, she meets the real mobster when he kills every man in the
room. As they escape Giovanni tells her they must fly to Vegas and marry to
prevent her from testifying against him. But their happiness is short lived.
Upon their arrival back in Miami, Giovanni is arrested on the tarmac for art
theft. Violette is fired on the spot. Feeling used and betrayed Violette has
the marriage annulled while Giovanni and his team of lawyers fight to free him
of a crime he was framed for. But Violette has a secret and when Giovanni
learns what she’s hiding from him, he’s going to be furious.
Recipe
of the Month:
Chilled Cucumber Soup
1
large cucumber, peeled and coarsely chopped
1
clover garlic, peeled and crushed in a little salt
2
cups plain yogurt
¼
cup walnut pieces
Salt
Freshly
ground black pepper
1
Tbls. Chipped fresh dill or parsley (or 1 tsp. dried dill and 2 tsp. chopped
fresh parsley)
In
a blender or food processor, puree the cucumber, yogurt, walnuts, salt, and
pepper. Blend until mixture becomes a smooth puree. Chill thoroughly and serve
garnished with chopped dill or parsley

Artwalk Book Signing: Heidi Vanlandingham, Yukon OK, and I spent
the entire day in downtown Duncan on June 27. We met some wonderful people who stopped by
our booth to talk and pick up an autographed book or two. For two blocks the streets was lined with
artists and food vendors, plus there was music all day long. This event was in
its first year, and while some things could be improved, I’m looking forward to
returning next year!
